It is where your child can develop the strength and skills of a competitive swimmer, the flexibility of a gymnast, the grace of a ballerina, and the stage presence of an actress.
Artistic swimming or "synchro" may be the ultimate team sport. No one is left out and everyone on the team is an integral part of the routine. The sport attracts swimmers of all ages. Not only does it promote fitness, team spirit, dedication, and goal setting, it cultivates friendships that can last a lifetime.
Synchronized swimming, now called artistic swimming, is a worldwide sport, growing in numbers, with strong roots in Canada.
Why Calgary Elite Artistic Swimming? Calgary Elite programs are built on years of proven coaching and athlete experience. At Calgary Elite, we include a range of activities as part of all our programs that build skill, strength, flexibility, and character. Our aim is to foster an environment that facilitates the physical, mental, and emotional development of balanced and well rounded athletes. Because we are a smaller club we are able to foster a real sense of community among our swimmers and their families. We are proud of our accomplishments over the years and look forward to the future.
At all program levels, we work on swimming skills as well as synchronized swimming skills. Our athletes develop swimming skills that will last a lifetime. Synchronized swimming skills, the highlight of the sport, are introduced successively through each of our program levels.
A combination of dryland training and water drills, help our athletes to develop the strength and flexibility to improve their ability and minimize the risk of injury. Depending on the program level, we add variety to our regular workouts by doing cross-training such as strength training and High Fitness.
Our programs build character. We work to develop confidence and self-esteem while promoting teamwork. Our coaches take pride in encouraging a teamwork ethic that is measured by 'fierce loyalty and commitment' in all of our athletes. Unlike swimming lessons, you may have a difficult time keeping your child from practice.
